Where to download LiveCycle Software

Pardon my inexperience but I have a question regarding availability of LiveCycle and I am very unfamiliar with Adobe and their products/services.   We have a 3rd party product we've used for several years that allows us to merge Lotus Notes/Domino data onto PDFs.   We created the fields on the PDFs using Adobe LiveCycle in the past (4 yrs ago).   We have a new INS government requirement to update one of these PDFs by Jan 22, 2017 but we cannot seem to obtain a copy of LiveCycle (Standard ES4 or Forms Pro ES4) anywhere or it is extremely difficult.

 

I've left a message for Adobe Support but have not gotten a response.   We are under a deadline and need some help obtaining a license.   We subscribe to the Creative Cloud service but I cannot even find it there.   Very frustrating....any help is appreciated in obtaining the LiveCycle version we need.

LiveCycle Designer ES4 crashes on Preview PDF

I am running LiveCycle Designer ES4 sp1, with Acrobat DC and Windows 10. I can preview a pdf in LCD but it will eventually just crash. This is regardless of whether it is a file I've worked on or a brand new file. I believe I can reproduce it by switching to Preview PDF (first time it works fine), go back to design mode then back to preview PDF and it crashes. If I switch to Reader, I can work with files without a crash.

 

The message is:

Adobe LiveCycle Designer has stopped working

A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.

Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

 

I tried removing the AppData but that did not solve the problem.

 

 

UPDATE:

I have uninstalled Acrobat DC 3 times, cleared the AppData, removed fonts, however the problem still exists.

dynamically create new table with set number of rows

I have a form to collect data from a region on a quarterly basis. Data is collected in a dynamic table with the ability to report, by county, in expandable rows in the table. This functionality is working fine.

 

I want to dynamically create a second table (based on the first table). I have set up a button to dynamically creates an exact replica of the first quarter table for use in filling in second quarter data. I would like to ensure that when the second quarter table is created, the entries from table 1 are populated in the second table. I think I need to use some type of a counter and when creating the second table, use the counter to establish number of rows in the second quarter table. I also want to populate the county column so the user does not have to re-enter. I see code from a similar thread on how do that part, but do not know how to dynamically and correctly created the second quarter table. The table is wrapped in a subform. The add new quarter button code is simple javascript:

 

_UPT_Services.addInstance(1)

Changing form from positioned to flowed

Hi...I have a form that I'm trying to edit.  There are a bunch of positioned subforms inside of flowed subforms.  I need to change the positioned subforms to flowed to allow the text boxes to grow, but when I do that, all the content in the subform gets messed up and moved all over the place.

 

Is there an easier way to do this without re-creating the form?

Multiple Master Pages - How to setup next page

Hi All,

 

We are designing a adobe form in Life Cycle designer.

We have three master pages (say MPage1, MPage2 & Mpage3)

And we have one Body page(subform\Page) in which we have table who's data is getting displayed over 5 to 10 Pages.

Now for this boy page (Bpage1) in the "Pagigation" tab we have set content area of MPage1 and for overflow content area of MPage2.

 

What we need now is first page should be MPage1 and 2nd page should be Mpage2 - (this is working fine as well)

After that we need 3rd page as MPage3 and 4th page as MPage2 and so on.

That means after first page, we need Page 2 & 3 should be repeated one after the other.

Like - MPage1-- MPage2 -- Mpage3 -- MPage2 -- Mpage3 -- MPage2 -- Mpage3 -- MPage2 -- Mpage3

 

We believe, on the table, on some event, through Java coding we need to change "Overflow Page" setting depending on current page number.

So how to set, which page should be used as nextoverflow page.

 

Kindly suggest.

Issue with page breaking in two columns layout.

Hi Experts,

 

my client has a Adobe form which has a two columns layout - there are two sections left and right and each of them can take any amount of space independently - it means that one section can be longer then the other one.

This layout is implemented as table with two columns, and others sections are placed in rows of that table as subforms.

Everything works fine when only one section has too many data and requires page break - in that case both section are moved smoothly to next page.

Issue appears if both of those sections have too many data and then page breaking goes wild, data is being spread on few pages.

Maybe someone experienced such problem before and have a solution for it ?

Any ideas are welcomed .

Columns hide, but their header reappear on subsequent pages

I am developing a form to present product quotes to my company's customers.

 

In some cases, we show the list price and discount.

In other cases, we don't show the list price and discount.

 

I've been able to null out the table column headers and hide the data by resizing column widths.

However, the column headers come back on the subsequent pages and overlap each other. The image below shows what happens on subsequent pages.

Here's my script:

Things I've tried:

  • Counting instances of the header row and setting the caption to nothing for each instance
  • Wrapping the header column and data cell in subforms and hiding their instances using the instanceManager

 

Nothing has worked.

I'm usinge LiveCycle 10.4 inside the SAP environment.

 

Does anyone understand why this is happening on the downstream pages? I'm almost at the point of simply not repeating the column heads on subsequent pages.

add instance before existing instance

Hello all,

is there a way to add a new instance of a Subform to show in a top the existing subform? the way it works now when you add a click on button to add a subform, the new subform shows under the exisitng subform and so forth, every time I add a subform it goes to the bottom. I want the opposite to happen where new subforms, always show in the top of old subforms.

Javascript to sum cells in a column

Hi all -

 

I've got an expanding table (rows can be added) and I'm trying to use the footer row of the column to compute the average of cells that don't have a value of 0.

 

Form Calc is usually great, but in this instance, I need to divide the sum by the number of cells that are not zero and I'm not sure how to do that via Form Calc.

 

Successfully used javascript to both identify the total number of instances and identify the number of instances that are zero, so the denominator part of the equation is fine. (# of instances - # of zeros = denominator.)

 

Now it's just the numerator. It's got to be a loop, right?

 

Table is called: table1

Row is called: data

cell is called: eValue

 

Any thoughts? Or more efficient methods? Thanks so much.

How to set display patterns on a decimal field to handle user text entered in error.

Hi

 

I'm creating a PDF in LiveCycle, which has a decimal field with the display pattern 'num{zzz,zzz,zz9.99}'.  The idea is for users to enter a numerical value with a maximum of two decimal points (i.e. 1,234.01)

 

Now I'm testing this form out to see whether it'll handle any incorrect user entries - especially the scenario where a user enters some string (letters) in this field by error. When I'm testing this scenario on Acrobat Pro, any text entries will be cleared out as soon the user tabs out of the field (which is exactly what I want it to do as it only should accept numerical values).

 

However when testing this out in Adobe Reader (with Reader Extendability switched on), any text entries are replaced with a "0.00" when the user tabs out of the field.  Unfortunately this is not what I want .  Replacing an incorrect entry with a 0.00 is actually a misrepresentation, because 0.00 is a valid entry that the users should be allowed to enter if they want to (hope that last sentence made sense ).

 

Does anyone have any ideas how this can be sorted? I'm thinking this is something to do with the "Allow Empty" or the "Allow Zero" settings on the display pattern window.  But i haven't got a clue on where to start because I've never used those settings before. Any help anyone can provide me will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks. display pattern.JPG

I need to make a form with an dropdownbox.
The value selected will set the mailto value.
Other textfields have to set the cc value.

"Argument mismatch in property or function argument" on nodes.length

Hi,

 

However I try to get the length on the nodes property, I always get this error:

 

  "Argument mismatch in property or function argument"

 

It happens regardless of which level of the DOM/SOM I try at, even though I can resolve nodes, get values, etc.

 

An example that would throw the error:

 

    var objDataGroup = xfa.resolveNode("$data"); 

    xfa.host.messageBox (objDataGroup.nodes.length);

    

What am I doing wrong?

Livecycle Designer ES4 - is this software coming to end of support?

Hi All,

 

I have a couple of questions with regards to the Livecycle Designer ES4 that i hope to get some advise:

 

1. Is Livecycle Designer ES4 coming of end of life, or end or support?

 

2. Currently i am using Livecycle Designer ES4 to create and edit dynamic PDF forms for my clients, if it is coming to end of support, do i need to migrate to AEM forms? Will i still be able to edit and create dynamic PDF forms using Livecycle Designer ES4?

 

3. If i still use Livecycle Designer ES4 to create and edit forms, is there any limitation?

 

4. About AEM, do they have a form designer program similar to Livecycle Designer ES4? Do i need to be train in a new environment again?

 

Basically i hope to be able to support my clients requirement, where we will create or edit dynamic forms for their use.

Making rawValue text data appear as Upper Case, Sentence case etc

This is hopefully a simple one.... but i have not figured it out after a few hours so any help would be great

 

i want to take rawValues from text fields and use them in various places

 

so imagine

 

FirstName.rawvalue = "steve" and Surname.rawValue = "Brown"

 

I want to be able to use FirstName and Surname with other text as either forced Caps or forced sentence case or whatever

 

A working example being,

 

"This book is owned by " + Firstname.rawValue (++somehow caps++) + Surname.rawValue (++somehow caps++) +" please return if found"

 

to produce

 

This book is owned by STEVE BROWN please return if found      

 

But also to be able to use those values to produce "Steve Brown" elsewhere

 

is there some way to apply uppercase/sentence case/lower case to a value like this by JAVAscript?

Paste from Word to fillable PDF and retain original formatting

I have created a fillable PDF form using Adobe Livecycle ES2. End users need the ability to paste into the form fields content that they have copied from Microsoft Word, keeping the original Microsoft Word formatting (including bold, underline, italics, paragraph indents, and especially tables). Of course, when they paste into the fillable PDF, all the formatting is stripped out. How can we overcome this problem? Is there something I need to do to the form fields to make them accept the formatted text and retain the formatting, or is there something that the end user needs to do when copying and pasting? If there is no way to retain the formatting, what is your recommendation for a solution or workaround? Thanks.

Is it possible to have flowing subform in masterpage?

Hello everyone,

 

I am wondering if it is possible to use subform with flowed content in masterpages. If it is possible, how do you make them to work?


Things i noticed :

- To have a flowing page, normally you have to set the page content to flowing, but in masterpage you cannot set this property.

- According to this flow document of the events, i tend to believe that masterpage layout appear after the layout process, which would maybe prevent the form from flowing?

Substr Function

I have a script that "walks" through all the records in an Access database table to find the largest file ID number. This script has been working correctly. Now I need to add a prefix to all the ID numbers. This requires me to modify my script so it ignores the one character prefix (prefix is either a "T" or a "Y"). I was trying to use the Substr function to accomplish this.

This is the original script that works:

while(!oDB.isEOF()){
 if(xfa.record.DataConnection1.FileName.value > nMaxID)  nMaxID = Number(xfa.record.DataConnection1.FileName.value);
 oDB.next();
}

 

Below is how I tried to modify the script above to ignore the prefix but I get an error that says Substr is not defined. What have I got wrong?

Sum Columns using Formcalc

I have created a form with 12 Columns and 23 fixed rows. In Row 1 of the table is a value, the remaining 22 rows allow the user to enter a number, what I would like to do is in the footer row be able to add up the numbers in the 22 columns and then multiple that by the value in Row 1 to give a total.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
