Is it possible to designate stapling when printing a PDF form?

$

I am using Adobe Lifecycle Designer (ver. 10.0.1029120306.1.870331) to set up a new report for an SAP application.  I can certainly designate duplex printing from within the form by using Form Properties and the PDF Print Options, but no stapling option can be found.  Is this possible?  Is there a way to set this up from within the PDF form?  If not within the form, what have others found to work for their environment?  We are using Xerox GPD PS printers here and they certainly offer the stapling feature.

Thanks for any suggestions...Pat

How do I access LiveCycle Designer from my Adobe Acrobat X Pro?

     I am unable to access LifeCycle ES2 from my Adobe Acrobat X pro, even though I am supposed to have it as part of the software.  I have tried Forms/Edit forms, and I have looked for it through all the menus.  Several of the helps I have found for other things has me launch LifeCycle and operate from screens that LifeCycle designer provides.

    I am using Windows XP professional.

    I would appreciate all the help I can get on this.

Thanks

Adobe Acrobat DC erased my Adobe LiveCycles

Hey All,

I have a pretty in depth form that I have been updating in Adobe LiveCycle for several years now with populated large dropdown options and so on, but with the Cloud I have to also download the LiveCycle program separately. I have no issues with that, but with the latest upgrade to Adobe Acrobat DC from the cloud deleted my LiveCycle. Does anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions? Is LiveCycle just that out of date? To me it had so much more control over forms than anything I have tried in Acrobat and I really need that kind of control. I do not see where in Acrobat to populate my dropdown menus and in the last Acrobat XI it would automatically move me back into LiveCycle when I did try to update my forms so I was ok with that.

Please any advice at all is appreciated! I have searched and searched and I see what looks to be a LiveCycle ES4 for sale on Adobe.com, but is this not part of the cloud? Are they still upgrading LiveCycle? Do I bother trying?

Thank you!

Dropdown list to change image field linked image?

$

Hello,

I am quite new in Designer but I have to complete a job and I don't find the solution.

I try to update on a form an image field using the value of a dropdown box and a "if" script.

I use linked images (not embedded ones) and try using a script calling the imageField. value. image. href  property.

The property is well updated as export to xml displays well the new href value but the image is not displayed as something was missing to activate it.

form1.#subform[0].ImageField1::calculate - (FormCalc, client)

if (UN_DropDownList == "3373") then ImageField1.value.image.href = ".\Images\UN3373.png"
endif

Rather simple (don't laugh at it) but it doesn't work.

I found solutions for embedded images via visible/hidden by dropdown list (not yet tested) as these ones. I give them below for reference (if some other users are interested)

http://forums.adobe.com/thread/683215

http://forums.adobe.com/message/2187604

http://acrobat.timhuff.net/?p=5

But not for linked images (path or URL). By the way, I found same problem descriptions in other forums but without any proposed solution.

As I should have quite a lot of images with frequent updates, it seems to me a better solutions...

Thanks in advance for you help.

Kind regards

Philippe

Invalid enumerated value: validationState

Hi there,

I need help, desperately.

I made a form using Desinger ES2, and set its target version to 9.1 or later.  When it is rendered in the browser/standalone with Reader Version 9.0, it would pop out "Invalid enumerated value: validationState", twice...

I do a version check in the form's formReady event, it hides the entire form if version is not >= 9.1, and also pops up a message box telling the user that they do not have the latest Reader and should update or the form would not display/function properly.  BUT our client is still not happy with the sollution and complains about seeing this popup when they load it in 9.0.

I need help getting rid of this popup in version 9.0 please.

I have 3 fields;

Time Field 1 called StartTime

Time Field 2 called EndTime

I'd like to calculate the difference between these 2 fields into the another field called TotalTime in hours.

EndTime cannot be greater or equal to StartTime. In this case a message should warn the user.

Could you help me with that please?

Can't get LiveCycle to show/hide subform

Hi,

I am new to LiveCycle and am developing a quote PDF. Couple of issues with it are:

I have 4 textfields, and for each one, if someone enters a value into it, I want the subform for tha field to appear. Can't seem to get that to work with presence function.

Is there a way to change what people put in fields to sentance or title case?

Most of my quote form is completed internally and we will save the PDF with the input we put in there, and attach it to an email to our clients. We want most of the fields in the PDF to display as text not fields when clients open the PDF, so that they can't change them.

There are 4 fields that we want them to be able to use to OK the quote with 2 buttons, 1 to print it out and the other to email the PDF back to us with their OK.

Can this be done? We have already designed this quote form PDF with all the fields in LiveCycle so I can send it to anyone who wants to look to see if they can help me out.

Much appreciated!

If/then statement with hidden fields

I have a form with a drop-down field that has 3 possible values (Today, Tommorrow, Next Week). Below this drop-down field is text field (TextField10) that needs to be filled out by the user ONLY if "Next Week" is selected in the drop-down. I would like for TextField10 to be hidden unless "Next Week" is selected.

For TextField10, I have "this.presence="hidden" written into the initialize event so it is hidden when the user opens the form. This works.

For the drop-down field, I have:

if (this.rawValue == "Next Week") then TextField10.presence = "visible";

     endif

written into the exit event in FormCalc. I need this in FormCalc because I have many other scripts in the exit event already written in FormCalc and I don't want to have to change all of them. I have checked "Specify Item Values" in the Binding Tab of the drop-down field.

Would someone please tell me what I am doing wrong. TextField10 is hidden, but never appears no matter what I select in the drop-down field.

thank you for your help!

'Save As' Button on Form

At the moment we are having to ask the user who is filling in a form to do a 'save as' and then specify a file name (that follows a particular naming convention).  It would be so much better if we could place a button on the form so that when selected it would save the form under a name which is made up of a couple of field values from the form itself.  Is this not possible?

Pages are set to flow Direction Top to bottom and page breaks are allowed within the page

The subforms on the page are set content: positioned, auto fit in height.

So is there a way to avoid unwanted creation of the gaps?

----- form1.#subform[0].Item1Users::ready:layout - (FormCalc, client) ------------------------------

...and so on and so forth....

In short, I want the code within:

----- form1.#subform[0].Item1Cost::calculate: - (JavaScript, client) -------------------------------

...to be able to access the variables I have created in:

----- form1.#subform[0]::initialize: - (FormCalc, client) ------------------------------------------

(I have assumed that this is where I would store Global variables)

At this stage, the global variables cannot be accessed with the configuration above.  The only was I can get this to work is to cut and paste the global vairables into each form1.#subform[0] item, which of course defeats the purpose of global variables!  I plan to have many more items so would not want to duplicate the global variables for all of them!

Can somebody show me how to do this?

Any help is very much appreciated!

Thanks

Multi-line entries in drop-down

Hi - I have a drop-down with a very long list, displaying in a fixed field area. Some of the entries are very long, and since the drop-down only allows one line, the rest of the entry is obscured. Is there any way to get the drop-down to display multi-line? Or at least to commit the selection to the fixed filed area as multi-line?

I have a radio button used to show/hide a comment field.  Initially the comment field’s presence is “hidden, exclude from layout” so that when the form opens, the
comment field does not show.  When the radio button is checked, the comment field then displays. Problem:  Once the user selects the radio button and enters
data into the comment field and saves it, how do you get the comment field to display every time the form is opened thus ignoring the “hidden, exclude from layout”
setting?

How to show current page number in formcalc?

I have a client who won't allow JavaScript in their forms for security reasons.  I'm trying to convert the JS I've used to work with FormCalc instead, but I don't have much experience with FC and I'm stuck at the first hurdle.

I want to display the current and total pages in the master page and I've changed the generated code to use FormCalc and changed to use the dollar reference, but the form doesn't render the current page number.

Here's the code

return.#pageSet[0].Restricted.CurrentPageNumber::ready:layout - (FormCalc, client)

//Doesn't work, even though it's copied from the reference material

this.rawValue = xfa.layout.page($)

// also tried

$ = xfa.layout.page($)

return.#pageSet[0].Restricted.NumberofPages::ready:layout - (FormCalc, client)

//Works

this.rawValue = xfa.layout.pageCount()

Any and all help would be really appreciated

If then multiple conditions, including Next button click

$

I just want to use Javascript (action builder has fits over multiple "trigger" conditions).  For previous if/then statements I've just used .rawvalues of radio buttons and checkboxes.  Now, I want the event to happen (navigating to page x) when the next button is clicked AND with a checkbox value of 1.

I know about && to join conditions, I just don't know how to code in a rawvalue for an OK button.

Is there a clean way to do this?  I don't want to have a dozen Ok buttons occupying the space and becoming visible given a checkbox value. That sounds a bit clunky.  I'd appreciate any help!
